AAC After-School Reflection Sheet
Many parents of AAC users share that it’s hard to get details about the school day—questions like “What did you do today?” are often met with silence, a one-word response, or a shrug. That’s not because children don’t have things to say, but because open-ended questions can feel overwhelming without extra support.
A structured reflection sheet gives children: Predictability—The same questions each day reduce pressure and make it easier to respond. Choice-making practice—Kids can share by pointing, selecting on their device, or using pictures. Language growth—Prompts encourage vocabulary about feelings, people, activities, and routines. Connection—Families get a glimpse into their child’s day and can celebrate successes or talk through challenges together. Carryover—Using AAC at home strengthens skills learned at school and shows kids their voice matters everywhere. In short, this tool helps children remember, reflect, and share—while giving parents a practical way to start meaningful conversations after school.
Use this sheet to talk about the school day. You can answer with your AAC device, core board, or by pointing!
